In short
Vaguemestre is software installed on your computer. No server belonging to Vaguemestre or to the BREIZHZION association receives, stores or relays your mail or your credentials. The tool contains no telemetry and no analytics.
Who publishes Vaguemestre
Vaguemestre is published by the BREIZHZION association, a French non-profit based in Villeurbanne, France. For any question about this policy or your data, write to contact@breizhzion.com.
The connections the tool makes
Vaguemestre only connects to the Internet when you ask it to do something, and only to:
- the IMAP and SMTP servers of the provider of the account you configured, to read and send your mail;
- the sign-in servers of Google (
accounts.google.com,oauth2.googleapis.com) and Microsoft (login.microsoftonline.com), when you connect an account from these providers or when its authorisation needs renewing; - and, only if you explicitly ask for it (the
--remote-imagesoption), the servers hosting a message's remote images.
No other connection is made. Nothing is sent to BREIZHZION.
What is written to your computer
- A configuration file for your accounts (address, servers, authentication type), with no secrets in it, in your user configuration directory.
- Your passwords and authorisation tokens, in the system's credential vault: Credential Manager on Windows, the Keychain on macOS, the Secret Service on Linux.
- The messages, attachments and images you choose to extract, in the folder you specify.
This data stays under your sole control. BREIZHZION has no access to it.
Google user data
When you connect a Gmail account, Vaguemestre requests access to your mail (the https://mail.google.com/ scope). This access is used solely to read, search, download, organise and send your mail, at your request, from your computer. It also requests your email address, to identify the connected account.
No Google data is transmitted to BREIZHZION or to any third party, used for advertising, or used to train any artificial intelligence model. Nobody at BREIZHZION reads your data.
Vaguemestre's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Microsoft user data
When you connect a Microsoft account, Vaguemestre requests IMAP access and SMTP sending for your mailbox, your email address and offline access (so you do not have to sign in again every hour). These permissions serve the same purposes as for Google, and the data obtained is handled the same way: on your computer only, never transmitted to BREIZHZION or to any third party.
Revoking access and deleting
- Google: remove Vaguemestre's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Microsoft: remove access at account.live.com/consent/Manage.
- On your computer: the account removal command deletes that account's secrets from the system vault, and uninstalling Vaguemestre removes the program. Files you extracted stay where you put them, yours to keep or delete.
This website
This website sets no cookies, contains no analytics scripts and has no forms. It is served by Cloudflare, which, like any host, processes your connection's IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site against abuse.
Your rights
BREIZHZION holds no personal data from Vaguemestre. If you write to us, we only use your message to reply. You have the rights granted by the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, objection) by writing to contact@breizhzion.com, and you may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date. The French version is authoritative.
